Happiness

The best things in life aren't things.

Research has shown that we can raise our baseline happiness if we use our signature strengths every day. Test for yours and improve your happiness level forever.

What is meant by authentic happiness?

Happiness is not linked to the material things you have. Many people these days experience a real disquiet around their everyday emotional lives and are searching for answers. This is part of the quest you are on and will involve using some form of meditation to arrive at or explore more deeply your spirituality.

But I want happier NOW

The trick to becoming happier generally is to raise your 'baseline' happiness by discovering what really makes you happy.

There is a whole movement in Positive Psychology, founded almost single handedly by Dr. Martin Seligman and it can change your life.

Three types of happy people. Which are you?

  • The chosen ones. They want for nothing, and have all that they desire. They are the least happy of the happy types.

  • The fully engaged ones. These people are happy because they have an interest in one or more things that is sufficient to make time stand still. They are the second happiest group of people on earth.

  • Those with a meaningful life. These people contribute to the world around them. They believe in what they are doing and they do it selflessly. Their connectedness in their community links directly to their core values. These are the happiest people on earth.
  • Take the Test

There are 24 signature strengths identified that have the power to make people authentically happy. Test for your Signature Strengths here.

The key to authentic happiness is in finding ways to use your top five signature strengths every day (once you know what they are) and secondly, to improve the bottom five signature strengths on your list (because that will improve those things you are not so good at).

If you want to know more, watch Martin Seligman deliver a talk on his research. It's 24 minutes and there are parts that are a tad dense, but stick with it if you can, because what he is talking about is fascinating.

Then go to his website and start your self awareness training. It can be very rewarding.

If for some wild eyed reason you are interested in my signature strengths, you will find them here.
